Montgomery Dairy Farm Laneway Crossing

Getting dairy cows out on pasture, where feasible, can be a good environmental and economic practice. Often, though, getting the cows to the pasture requires a laneway that can suffer from the heavy animal traffic. Where the laneway crosses a stream or other concentrated water flow, additional concerns can result. On this Town of Montgomery dairy farm, we designed and cost-shared the construction of an improved laneway and a culvert stream crossing. In addition to protecting water quality, these practices will result in better herd health - for example, cleaner udders and less hoof problems.
