The Wallkill River Watershed Management Plan is finished!
ORANGE COUNTY ANNUAL MS4 STORMWATER REPORT
Stormwater is a growing concern, especially in urbanized areas such as Orange County. Stormwater runoff picks up potential pollutants like soil, fertilizer and pet wastes that can impact water quality. In response to these concerns, some operators of storm water conveyance systems, including the County of Orange, are required by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to implement a storm water management program and to complete an annual report summarizing activities completed under the program.
Public participation is a welcome and required component of stormwater management programs conducted under this regulation. Orange County residents are invited to review and provide comment on the Orange County draft Annual Report for the period March 10, 2009 to March 9, 2010. The report is now available on both the
Department of Planning and the Soil and Water Conservation District website: www.ocsoil.org. Comments may be submitted to the above post office or email address. Since the report must be submitted to NYSDEC by June 1st, 2010, comments should be submitted by May 27th if possible. Inquires can also be made by calling 845 343-1873.
